Cabin Catastrophe by Sahir
In April 2014 four boys named James Montana, Naren Mukherjee, Hugo Howell, and Angus Tymms, were in Tioman with their class. On their way back, they were shocked to find the roof of their cabin gone, and a wall of their cabin full of spiders. It was as if they’re territory had been invaded. The 4 boys had returned from a tiring day of sailing, jetty jumping, and other activities and were looking forward to having a good night’s rest but instead were it was the advxerse. Certain parts of cabin 15, like one of the bunk beds, were soaked in water, and spiders and cockroaches were found everywhere as if they had claimed the cabin grounds to be theirs. In a matter of minutes the whole class had arrived on the sight to see what had happened. Meanwhile Naren had ran to an instructor. The instructor was calm and took care of the situation by simply telling the boys to take their bags and move to a different boy’s cabin. Later Naren said, “I’m very lucky my bag didn’t get wet.”
This act of Naren quickly going to an adult for help, and the boys not screaming in terror, showed resilience showedws resilience and critical, quick thinking. The boys of the other cabins were fine taking another boy into their cabin, they were actually very excited. Although the territory was invaded, the warriors inside were able to ‘fight’ their way out of it and escape to safety, and show resilience along the way.
